Terms of Service
These terms outline the details for booking your ceremony ensuring everything runs smoothly
These Terms of Service apply to all celebrant services provided by Celebrations with Julie (“the Celebrant”) to you (“the Couple”).
By booking with Julie, you’re agreeing to the following simple guidelines so everything runs smoothly and stress-free.
1. Booking & Fees
To secure your date and time, a non-refundable 25% booking fee is required.
Your booking is confirmed once this fee has been received.
The remaining balance is due 7 days before your ceremony.
2. Cancellation & Postponement If you need to cancel:
• The booking fee is non-refundable.
• If you cancel within 14 days of your ceremony, 50% of the total fee is payable.
• If you cancel within 7 days, the full ceremony fee is payable (100%).
If you need to postpone:
• Your booking fee can be transferred to a new date, as long as Julie is available.
• If she isn’t available, the usual cancellation terms apply.
If Julie needs to cancel:
In the rare event of illness, emergency, or something genuinely unforeseen:
• All fees paid — including the booking fee — will be refunded in full, or
• Julie will do her very best to help you find another registered celebrant.
3. Legal Requirements
You’re responsible for applying for your Marriage Licence through Births, Deaths and Marriages.
• It’s valid for 90 days.
• Julie must receive your licence no later than the day of your ceremony.
• Without a valid licence, a legal marriage cannot take place.
Witnesses
You must provide witnesses for your ceremony.
They can be friends, family, or anyone special to you, as long as:
• They understand the ceremony,
• They are sober and able to sign,
• They’re old enough to understand what they’re witnessing.
If a witness does not speak English, an interpreter will be required and must sign a declaration before the ceremony.
After the ceremony
Julie will lodge all required paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages so your marriage can be officially registered.
4. Travel & Additional Costs
Travel within 20 km of Julie’s base is included unless otherwise agreed.
Travel outside this may incur mileage and, if needed, accommodation, ferry, or flight costs.
Additional services, such as rehearsals, extra meetings, or significant script changes, may have added costs. Julie will always discuss these with you in advance.
5. Creating & Delivering Your Ceremony
Julie will work with you to create a ceremony that feels truly yours, warm, personal, and meaningful.
• Final ceremony details must be confirmed at least 7 days before the wedding.
• Please ensure your ceremony begins on time. Delays of more than 30 minutes may affect Julie’s ability to officiate if she has other bookings that day.
6. Professional Standards & Wellbeing
Julie will always conduct your ceremony with professionalism, warmth, and in accordance with New Zealand law.
She may withdraw her services if anyone behaves in an aggressive, abusive, or unsafe manner, or if her health, safety, or wellbeing is at risk.
7. Media & Promotion
Photographers and videographers are welcome to capture your ceremony, as long as they do not disrupt the legal requirements. Julie is always happy to work alongside them.
Julie may occasionally request permission to use images or video of her officiating for her website or social media. This will only happen with your written consent — never without it.
8. Limitation of Liability
Julie is not responsible for delays or disruptions caused by weather, guests, third parties, or situations where legal requirements (such as witnesses or your marriage licence) aren’t met.
Her liability is limited to the total amount of fees paid.
